Greyhound's new album "Amidst the Lonesome Winds" christens an auditory journey that cruises along the industrial sounds of Detroit's ambient sea, enmeshing personal histories with eclectic jazz inspirations and ambient beats.
Greyhound was started in Pontiac, Michigan and later relocated to Detroit, Michigan. After being absorbed in Detroit's art and music scene, he became heavily inspired by Detroit's cultural history, whose hegemony is as much rooted in artists' resourcefulness as it is in the city's extremes. Greyhound's sounds are intricately stitched together, creating beats from corrupted files from the dark web, enigmatically untitled jazz CDs, and siren calls from his own personal history. The album is a theatrical monologue in warm waters with an undercurrent of the bittersweetness of living in the major rust belt city. This album is an "experience" — an important take on the experimental jazz and rap genres to be listened to delicately and alone
